Universal Epic Universe announces 2025 opening date
With each new piece of information Universal Orlando reveals about its newest park, it becomes increasingly clear that Universal Epic Universe will redefine the theme park experience.
Four of the park's five themed "worlds" have attractions, characters and experiences based on popular films and games, including Harry Potter, Universal Classic Monsters, "How to Train Your Dragon" and Nintendo heroes like Mario, Luigi and Donkey Kong. The fifth land, Celestial Park, serves as the entrance to the park, with portals that lead to the other four lands.
Of course, themed lands and attractions are nothing new in the theme park world. But Epic Universe promises innovative rides, interactive experiences and relaxing green spaces at a level never seen before.
You can see real flying dragons in How to Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk, compete in a real-life Mario Kart race inside Super Nintendo World, travel from Paris via Metro-Floo to the British Ministry of Magic in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic and ride a roller coaster in Dark Universe with such realistic Universal Classic Monster animatronics that you might think you're in a real horror movie.
Universal has slowly shared information about each new land coming to Epic Universe over the past eight months. Now there's only one question on everyone's mind: When will the park open so we can fly with dragons, ride with Mario, battle dark wizards and fend off monsters?
On Thursday, Universal announced that Epic Universe will open May 22, 2025. Although technically spring, the period around Memorial Day marks the unofficial start to summer for travelers. The opening comes just in time for those clamoring to be first through the gates to visit during their summer vacation.
Universal also announced that the first phase of Epic Universe ticket sales will begin Oct. 22. Reservations for the Universal Helios Grand Hotel, which opens along with the park on May 22, 2025, will also be available beginning Oct. 22.
Initially, most guests will only be able to visit Epic Universe as part of a multiday Universal Orlando vacation package.
Three-, four- and five-day admission tickets to Universal's theme parks, including one day at Epic Universe are available now on the Universal Orlando website. For example, if you purchase a four-day ticket, you can spend three days at Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure and one day at Epic Universe. Universal shared that you can save up to $200 when you bundle one of these ticket packages with a hotel stay.
Only Universal annual passholders will have the option to purchase one-day tickets before they go on sale to the general public. Passholders can purchase one-day tickets beginning Oct. 24.
Although Epic Universe is about 3 miles down the road from Universal Orlando's other two parks, transportation will be available between all three Universal theme parks and all of Universal's hotels, including the Helios Grand and the two other hotels coming to Epic Universe.
